Spencer leads the day-to-day execution of Black Coast Estates & is the visionary behind the project.

His background spans acquisitions, entitlements, and full-cycle construction, including the delivery of a $21.5 million residential development in Utah. At Black Coast Estates, Spencer leads the project's major decisions and overall vision. That vision began during his own time in Costa Rica, when he wanted a place like Black Coast Estates for his family and realized the product he was looking for did not exist yet, so he would have to help create it himself.
As part of the Barber family, which holds the majority of ownership in the project, Spencer brings a builder's discipline and an owner's accountability to a community his family plans to own and use themselves.
His background spans acquisitions, entitlements, and full-cycle construction, including the delivery of a $21.5 million residential development in Utah. Before Black Coast Estates, Spencer led MayFly Rise, a 48-townhome development in Clearfield, Utah, that became the proving ground for the team's approach to controlled scale, direct oversight, and full-cycle execution. The team stays involved through the entire life of a project: acquisition, planning, construction, delivery, and long-term operations.
During MayFly Rise he brought on Seth Barber and Kincaid Garrett, both of whom have since become full partners on the Costa Rican developments. Both relocated to Costa Rica, with Seth running on-the-ground operations and Kincaid leading sales and acquisitions. Spencer continues to lead the project from Utah, setting direction and making the major decisions remotely while the team executes on the ground.
Today he is the visionary behind Black Coast Estates, a private 42-home beach community in Playa Negra that the team is not only building, but will continue to maintain and operate over time.
